Responsible Tourism in Maharg - Task

Scenario:

You work for Paradise Tours, and have received many complaints about the behaviour of the tourists that you brought to Maharg last summer. The tourist board has asked you to do something to change the behaviour of the tourists or they will refuse you permission to offer package tours to the island.

Your boss has asked you to examine some of the policies and guidelines that other organisations suggest and to publish your recommendations for Maharg. Your boss wants you to write a report containing...

1) Guidelines to give to the tourists so they are more sensitive to local culture
2) Recommendations to Maharg to help educate the tourists.

Summary of the problems:

The locals were unhappy about the parties the tourists held on the beach. There were two main complaints:

a) the noise meant that some locals had trouble sleeping
b) the rubbish left by the tourists on the beach the next day

The locals were also unhappy about two other things at the end of the summer:

a) the graffitti on the trees
b) cigarette butts on the beach
